Disappointingly enough The Last Airbender has fallen into this 3D hype. I am not sure how this will affect the movie but for some reason I find adding 3D effects to this film a gimmick and I am quite pissed I have to spend an extra $5 for something that is not needed. It is said that the same company that worked on the 3D for James Cameron's Avatar will convert The Last Airbender. They claim this new change will not affect the movies release date but who cares. 3D has become way too popular and is definitely overrated. Lets see if the effects on this upcoming motion picture will bring the film to a new heights or simply give the audience a headache.

Review

Bill is an Ivy League philosophy professor who is tricked into returning to his hometown in Oklahoma by his identical twin brother, Brady. Although Brady seems like a stereotypical redneck, he is a brilliant scientist specializing in the marijuana trade. Brady seeks his brother's help and the drama/comedy ensues. Edward Norton's performance is excellent, which is no surprise. However, there are many shocking turns in this film. Philosophy and intellectualism are clearly apparent with a nice dosage of straight up retarded behavior. The drama overshadows the comedy but as always Edward Norton delivers!

Review

In this sequel, the four couples reunite for an annual "Why did I get married?" vacation. From the beginning the audience sees glimmers of issues with all the couples, as you would expect. The problems this time around are quite insane resulting in hilarious displays by the characters. The twists are shocking and slightly ridiculous. It would seem in an attempt to surpass the first film, Tyler Perry took a few unsuccessful risks. Nevertheless, an amusing film which demonstrates some of the crazy situations that come along with being married.

Review

Ponyo is a fairytale of a magical goldfish who wants nothing more than to become human after meeting a little boy named Sosuke. Ponyo is a very special sea creature, she is the daughter of a sea goddess and a supreme wizard. Nonetheless, her efforts to become human send the world off-balance as the moon gets sucked closer and closer to the earth. The film touches on the simple yin and yang philosophy, the importance of balance. Pollution of our oceans and its effect on sea life is subtly mentioned. This movie is whimsical, magnetic and keeps you guessing. Children of all ages and adults alike will adore this film.

Review

Where to begin. This movie blew me away. Went in with no expectations at all and was taken for a ride I will never forget. This film is one emotional roller-coaster. Happy, sad, angry, nervous, surprised, hopeful, etc. This is the first "kids" flick in a while that really threw me for a loop; it was unpredictable. The character developments and relationships throughout the film were not only heartwarming but relatable. Looking deeper, How to Train Your Dragon digs into one of humanities greatest faults, making assumptions... He looked into its eyes and saw himself. Now the only thing that they could have done in this movie to make it the greatest animation ever is to have Stoick kick a dragon down a pit and yell "This is Berk!" Love it.
